Places of worship are frequently located in much loved buildings in historic locations. Although the religious community will want to have an accessible building it may worry that any adaptations involved will adversely intrude upon the spirit of the place. We have been fortunate to be asked to advise on proposed adaptations to a number of these special places and believe our proposed interventions retain the aura of the setting while ensuring that the building and its grounds are more usable by all.

Improved access is in particular demand for larger cathedrals and abbeys offering information and services to large numbers of visitors. Access for older and disabled people as well as parents with small children can play a key role in the success of any 'visitor offer' business plan.
