Tactile plans have been used since 2006 for discussions with the Stratford City Access Consultancy Group (SCCAG) about the master plan and development proposals for Stratford City and the Olympic Village.
The plans have proved to be very useful in the consultation process because they can be read by people who are blind or have impaired vision and are also easier to read visually than the usual technical drawings. The tactile plans have raised lines and Braille notation for people with impaired vision plus colours for people without visual impairment.
The tactile plans developed by David Bonnett Associates are now being used on a variety of projects and are an innovative example of inclusive design and communication.
